It was a GREAT weekend...

I always enjoy a good weekend. Some friends were in from out of town. Andy used to be one of our Area Directors and was kind of the mastermind to many of our schemes last year. His wife, Chelsea, was defending her Dissertation for her doctoral program on Friday. Here's an outline of the festivities:

Thursday: Dinner at my house. Pot roast, mashed potatoes/gravy, carrots/celery, peggy potatoes (Or potato casserole named after Drunk Adam's aunt Peggy), Beer Bread, homemade mac n cheese, salad, mint brownies, some sort of cake thing, and of course the free flowing river of wine, beer, and champagne. It was a good night. The guest list: Me (of course), Ben, Drunk Adam, Andy, Chelsea, Shiggins, Rachel, Corey, Jess, Lindsey (her first week at family dinner night), Linda, and Johnwana. It was a house full!! We stuffed ourselves on home cooked food and then played games that at one point almost killed me (this is a theme in our world) because it made me laugh just as I took a drink. I'm pretty sure Jess dumped her glass of wine on me, and the carnage the next day was ridiculous with the empties... oh but it was a TON of fun.

Friday: We went to lunch with Andy while Chelsea was defending. Then we met up at 7th & Elm (a local bar) around 8pm. The guest list: Ben, Christy, Andy, Chelsea, Drunk Adam, Me, Jess, Lindsey, Rachel, Kyle, and Julia. They had some pretty decent drink specials so it was a good night. Having had too much to drink the night before I limited my intake, but did do a shot with the crew. Got a rep to protect (ha ha). For most of the night it was just us in the upstairs area, but there were two other small tables of folks that we befriended. One was a group from Union Hospital who had just gotten off work and the other table was a group from the Army Reserves out for a drink. We were controlling the jukebox and were rockin out to 80's tunes and the other tables join in on the dancing and fun. It was soooo much fun. I enjoyed being sober sister that night -- everyone else was FREAKIN HILARIOUS!!

Saturday: I had to get up to give a presentation at 9am for our Admissions office then had to do an APA interview at 10am. We all met at Ben's for breakfast at 10:30ish. Christy made eggs (the best eggs I've ever freakin had) and Cinnamon rolls. The cast of characters that day: Ben, Christy, Andy, Chelsea, Drunk Adam (who was surprisingly sober), Linda, Me, Rachel, and Jacob. We watched TV and ate -- but were pretty much all dead. I was so tired I kept nodding off and they were all laughing at me. So I went home and went back to bed. Andy and Chelsea left that evening.

Sunday: Health Care Reform took a GIANT step forward!! :) Still trying to find an unbiased summary of the act and what's going on, but that doesn't seem to exist. Was going to try to read the thing but when I saw it was 1,990 pages long, I realized I'd rather saw off my arm and beat myself with it than read a document that long that was written by arrogant, pontificating idiots (even if they are Dems -- all politicians fall into that category no matter their party). If you know of a good source, let me know. I've read a few but am still trying to sort it all out.

So it was a GREAT weekend.. haven't had one that fun in a LOOOONNNNNGGG time!! It was almost comparable to Themed Birthday Parties at Pub... :)

  1. Now you have this week to live down all this jocularity and frivolity. Take it easy, your body might not handle the strain. BTW, the best eggs you ever had? It's just an egg, but isn't it amazing what fun and friends can do to make 'just an egg' very special?
