New Year... New Gear

Well, it's one week into the new year.  Welcome 2011!

I started my new job on Monday.  So I've been in it a week.  Guess what?  The first week of my new job is pretty much the same as the last week from my old job.  The difference is that I'll be getting more $$.  Not that I do my job for the cash, but the cash is nice.

So, Leah and I are planning a trip to Indy in July to see NKOTBSB!!  We're pretty excited.  Getting a hotel room and everything.  Really exciting!! I don't even know what year it was that we went to see NKOTB at the state fair, but we want to relive it.  AWESOME!!

So, I'm working today because it's opening weekend.  I just got off of an hour conversation with a parent.  Oh my holy goodness!!  The situation is that the woman's daughter woke up in the middle of the night and there were two people in her room.. she told them to be quiet twice and then finally she got off her bed and went to the bathroom and called her mother hysterical.  Apparently they were naked and doin the nasty.

Now, I'd be upset too if I woke up and there were naked strangers in my room doin-it.  I live alone in my own apartment so I'd be justified.  Not that if I lived in the halls and that happened I wouldn't be weirded out but my land!! This woman acts like this is the worst possible thing that could ever happen to her daughter.  Unfortunately, I've seen crazier and worse so I don't have a lot of sympathy for them.  She keeps asking why we aren't arresting anyone.  The naked folks had permission from the roommate to be there.. now the roommate clearly lacks good critical thinking skills, but no law was broken.  The parents just don't understand that and are demanding that we prosecute these two people for being in that room.

I suggested she call our local prosecutor and explain that to him.

She doesn't like me very much.  She ended the call by telling me that we will give her daughter a single room at no extra charge.  I ended my end of the call by telling her that was impossible.  She hung up on me.

I have to say -- if I were a crazy, angry parent -- I probably wouldn't like me very well either.  I'm reasonable, intelligent and can smell a lie like a fart in a car.  Their goal is the single room.. the FREE single room.

Not going to happen.

Ever!

Unless the president of the university intervenes...

DOUBT IT!

  1. So, are you saying the sleeping student was lying to get the single room, or the Mom was? Either way, I'll bet you would keep a lot of lawyers busy prosecuting the roommate's performance.
